Invenergy speaks with students at Delavan-Darien High School
Invenergy team members from both the Foundry Ridge Energy Center project and operating Darien Solar Energy Center were excited to speak with Delavan-Darien High School students. The presentation complemented the students' Physics and Environmental Science coursework and offered a real world example of how local energy projects help keep the lights on. Topics covered included the power grid, how solar panels convert sunlight into electrical energy, how natural gas supports reliability, and the extensive vegetation management and environmental programs that go into these projects.
In addition, the Invenergy team discussed how the students' current classes create a path to jobs in energy. Hearing from an alumni of Delavan-Darien High School who currently works as a technician at Darien Solar Energy Center helped students envision future careers, including many high paying and fulfilling jobs at Invenergy that don’t require a traditional 4 year degree.
The Invenergy team thanks the Delavan-Darien High School teachers and students for an engaging afternoon.
